Located adjacent to Corumbá, from which it separated in 1953, Ladário is the seat of the 6th Naval District (initially Ladário Navy Arsenal, built from 1873), which has exerted a strong influence on the city’s way of life since its establishment. One of its main landmarks is the Naval Base gate, shaped like a triumphal arch, influenced by Roman architecture, such as the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
From the city, various hotel boats depart for tourism in the Pantanal via the Paraguay River, and the Baía Negra region is increasingly sought after by birdwatchers.
How to get there: Ladário is connected to Campo Grande, the state capital, by BR-262, covering a distance of approximately 420 km. Air access is through Corumbá International Airport (05 km away).
